Public land agencies that are interested in proposing a project should contact our Projects Team (projects@nmvfo.org) for more information and our easy-to-complete project proposal form.

Help us restore and maintain the largest, undeveloped space in Albuquerque as we continue our efforts to make it a wildlife refuge

Trout Creek (Glenwood RD)

Reopening an old trail and provide looping opportunities with Trout Creek Trail. Work will consist of tread reconstruction and brushing.

St. Peter’s Dome (Jemez RD)

Help clear blowdown and large rocks from the trail corridor, repair trail tread and improve drainage

Devisadero Loop (Camino Real RD)

Build rolling dips, re-bench trail, repair steps, remove brush, add signs on trails along the scenic highroad to Taos near the town of Penasco

Gilita Trail (Glenwood RD)

Work along the Gilita Creek in the wilderness area of the Gila National Forest. We’ll reconstruct trail, build cairns and remove fallen trees.

San Pedro Parks Wilderness (Cuba RD)

This is an unsupported backpack project. Repair trail, improve drainage, and remove fallen trees along the Palomas and Penas Negras Trails.

Sugarite Canyon State Park

Trail tread repair and erosion control along trails leading from the historic Coal Camp ruins to mines #2 and #3.
