NMVFO plans 30+ volunteer work projects each year. Click here for a printable overview of the 2025 project season, and check back often for additional information. Public land agencies that are interested in proposing a project should contact our Projects Team (projects@nmvfo.org) for more information and our easy-to-complete project proposal form.

Have a non-project related question? Send us a message from our Contact page. Pets are not allowed on any NMVFO projects. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or other legal guardian.
EARTH DAY! Fence Removal WAITLISTED (Santa Fe Conservation Trust)
Join NMVFO for a fence-removal project with a new partner, the Santa Fe Conservation Trust.
Valle de Oro Habitat Restoration WAITLISTED (NWR)
Help us clear space for native plants by removing invasive species from the Visitor Center area
Bluewater Canyon (BLM)
Improve an existing trail in a pretty canyon below Bluewater Dam just west of Grants
Manzano Crest Lopping (Mountainair RD)
We will remove downfall on the Manzano Crest Trail between Trail Canyon Trail and Bosque Peak Trail
Sugarite Canyon State Park (ENMRD)
We return to beautiful Sugarite State Park to improve hiking trails around the lakes
Six Mile Canyon Trail (Magdalena RD)
We return to clear deadfall and overgrowth on 6-Mile Canyon Trail in the Magdalenas
Black Range Backpack CANCELED
Brushing and some logging/tread west and north of Emory Pass, including Gallinas #129, Railroad #128 and Crest #79
Petroglyph National Monument (NPS)
We will improve the area around the Information Center of the Petroglyph National Monument by trimming and pruning native plants and removing invasive plants
Saddleback Trail (SFNF)
We'll work with the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society to improve the Saddleback trail in the Santa Fe National Forest.
Canjilon Creek Restoration (Carson NF)
Help restore a wetlands feeding into Canjilon Creek, with the Chama Peak Land Alliance
Quarai Spanish Corral Trail (Salinas Pueblo Missions NM)
We will improve the one mile Spanish Corral Loop Trail at the Quarai Mission site
Beatty’s Trail (SFNF)
Car camp at Jack’s Creek group site, bench work and drainage structures
Adopt-a-Trail (Carson NF)
We return to the Santa Barbara Campground and our adopted trail, Middle Fork 24, for sawing and lopping
North Baldy Trail (Magdalena RD)
Lop and clear deadfall on North Baldy Trail #8 in the Magdalenas with Socorro Trails
Salinas Pueblo Missions Wall Stabilization (NPS)
We will preserve and stabilize ruin walls at either Abo or Quarai with Salinas Pueblo Missions staff
Potato Canyon (Magdalena RD)
Join us to help repair Potato Trail #38 in the Withington Wilderness, sawing and lopping
Juan Tomas (ABQ Open Space)
Continue to build a lengthy new trail through forested terrain.
Water Canyon Nature Trail (Magdalena RD)
Help us improve a nature trail near the Water Canyon Campground
Limestone Canyon (Magdalena RD)
We return to help restore wetland meadows in Limestone Canyon over Labor Day Weekend, with partner Albuquerque Wildlife Federation
Manzano Crest Lopping and Sawing (Mountainair RD)
We will remove downfall on the Bosque Peak Trail and then continue lopping going north on the Manzano Crest Trail
Ute Lake State Park (ENMRD)
Install wooden steps and rock check dams and improve a nature trail at Ute Lake State Park in eastern NM
