Projects and Events List
NMVFO plans 30+ volunteer work projects each year. Click here for a printable overview of the current project season, and check back often for additional information. Public land agencies that are interested in proposing a project should contact our Projects Team (projects@nmvfo.org) for more information and our easy-to-complete project proposal form.

If you’re new to NMVFO, be sure to visit our FAQ page to learn more about what to expect on a project. Project leaders are always happy to answer your questions about specific projects. Have a non-project related question? Send us a message from our Contact page. Pets are not allowed on any NMVFO projects. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or other legal guardian.
Upper Trigo Trail (Mountainair RD)
Sawing and lopping on Upper Trigo Trail, coming from New Canyon Campground
South Crest Trail Backpack (Sandia RD)
Backpack up to the South Crest Trail and clear brush. Trailrunners can also participate!
Mesa Trail 13 (Magdalena RD)
Come join us in the beautiful Magdalena mountains for a day project on the popular Mesa Trail #13, brushing and removing deadfall
Bluewater Canyon (BLM Rio Puerco)
Improve an existing trail in a pretty canyon below Bluewater Dam just west of Grants
Adopt-a-Trail (Carson NF)
Log removal, brushing and tread work on the Middle Fork Trail #24, NMVFO’s adopted trail on the Carson
Quarai Wall Stabilization (Salinas Pueblo Missions NM)
We will work alongside the park's Preservation Crew, who will be stabilizing 17th-c. Convento Walls and 19th-c. Resettlement Structures at Quarai
Dome Trail #151
Join NMVFO on a car-camping project to clear downed trees on the Rio Quemado Trail #153 and the Dome Trail #151
CDT Canjilon (Carson NF)
We partner with the Continental Divide Trail Coalition at Canjilon Lake Trailhead in the Carson for logout

Juan Tomas (ABQ Open Space)
Continue to build a lengthy new trail through forested terrain.
Limestone Canyon
Return with partner Albuquerque Wildlife Federation, to help restore wetland meadows in Limestone Canyon
Quarai Spanish Corral Trail (Salinas Pueblo Missions NM)
We will improve the one mile Spanish Corral Loop Trail by adding wood chips to the tread, trim back brush, and improve drainage
Pecos River Cleanup (National Public Lands Day)
Celebrate National Public Lands Day by removing litter along the beautiful Pecos River north of Pecos, NM
Valle de Oro Habitat Stewardship (NWR)
Clear space for native plants by removing invasive species near the Visitor Center
Los Luceros Historic Site 2
Join NMVFO as we remove invasive trees and improve trails in the bosque at the Los Luceros Historic Site
Organ Mountains Aguirre Springs Recreation Area (Las Cruces BLM)
Join us for a car-camping weekend at Aguire Springs Group Site and work at the Organ Mountains Aguirre Springs Recreation site.
