
SUMMARY: 8.2k feet to 12.0 k feet, 4.1 miles
DESCRIPTION: Several parallel trails go from Hwy 150 (to Taos Ski Valley) to Lobo Peak Trail #57. This trail follows Yerba Canyon up the mountainside, with a small stream, and after a steep climb emerges into meadow. Yerba is the western-most of the several trails we worked on that started near the Rio Hondo.
“Yerba” is “herb” in Spanish.
GETTING THERE: On Hwy 150 into Taos Ski Valley, Yerba Canyon Trailhead is about 1.1 miles east of Cuchillo Campground, and up a short dirt road.
CONDITIONS: In 2019 the lower trail was mostly cleared of downfalls, but remains steep.
