SUMMARY: 9.6k feet to 10.2k feet, 3.2 miles
DESCRIPTION: Starting at a trailhead near the top of the Sandia Crest Scenic Byway, this route passes through conifers and aspen. Loops are possible with 10k, for those who avoid out-and-back.
GETTING THERE: Travel up the Sandia Crest Road approximately 6.5 miles to the Ellis Trailhead parking area.
CONDITIONS: Well-traveled, rocky in places. Do not mind the short dirt road at the beginning, which soon narrows down to decent tread.
