The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) extends from the Mexico border to just beyond the Canada border, passing through the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.
With roughly 800 miles of continuous trail in New Mexico, the CDT is a great destination for hikers in the state wishing to experience several miles of unfamiliar well-maintained tread. The route passes through or near Lordsburg, Silver City, Gila Cliff Dwellings (alternate route), Pie Town, Grants, Cuba, Ghost Ranch, and Chama.
The Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) coordinates maintenance of the CDT, and NMVFO has been glad to partner on recent projects.
