Timber Peak Trail (Magdalena RD)

Description: Join us for some needed maintenance on the Timber Peak Trail #70 in the Magdalena Mountains West of Socorro. This scenic trail is approximately 4 miles long and follows a north-south ridgeline between 9400′ and 10,000′ in elevation with expansive views of central New Mexico. We will focus on clearing downed trees and cutting back overgrowth that is obscuring the tread of the trail. The work will not be too difficult but it will be an 8 mile (round trip) hike at altitude. For this reason, we will rate this project as difficult.

We will meet at the Water Canyon Campground which is approximately a 90 minute drive from the south side of Albuquerque. The campground usually has vacancies if you wish to stay overnight. We will meet at 8am and be back at the campground by 5pm.

There will be a limit of 20 people on this project. Participants should wear sturdy boots or work shoes, long pants, eye protection, gloves, and bring gear for rain. Please note that pets are not allowed on this project.
