RESULTS: On Sept 18th, 2021 seven volunteers cleared over 70 trees from Ox Canyon in the southern Manzanos.
Description: The work will be mostly cutting trees that have fallen on the trail. The project will require an 8-mile round trip hike with 2000 feet of elevation gain. We will walk up Ox Canyon and then north on Manzano Crest Trail. We will split into 2 groups, so some people will not need to hike the whole distance.
Camping will be available at the Ox Canyon Trailhead Friday the 17th, and volunteers are welcome to stay and camp Saturday night after the project ends. This is just a large parking area with NO facilities (no bathrooms, no water). The final 5 miles is on a dirt road that is fine for passenger cars. NMVFO will provide breakfast on Saturday. Please bring your own food and water for the trail and maybe a little extra water for the campsite.
Difficulty:
Group Size: 20
