Datil Well (BLM Socorro)

RESULTS: Fourteen volunteers returned to the group site at Datil Well Campground, to build ADA trail, remove viewpoint structures, install map signposts, close unwanted user trails, fix tread, and survey trails.

Description: Join NMVFO on a car-camping project at Datil Well Campground, to build new trail, install signage and improve tread.

Datil is 61 miles west of Socorro on US Hwy 60, past the Very Large Array. The campground is ¼ mile south of Datil on Hwy 12. The green NMVFO signs will be deployed early Friday afternoon at both entrances to the campground area.

NMVFO cooks Donna and Marie will provide breakfast and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Please bring dinnerware, and your own sack lunches for the trail on Saturday and Sunday.  Volunteers must wear sturdy boots (preferred) or shoes (no sandals), long pants, eye protection and work gloves.  Long sleeve shirts and long pants are required. Hard hats will be provided. Bring sun protection and apparel appropriate for the predicted weather.
Camping Friday evening September 16 is optional, and the tradition is for early campers to have Friday dinner together at the nearby Eagle Guest Ranch.
