Description: Enjoy the camaraderie of other women as we learn or review some trail-building basics, then spend the day building new trail. We will go over tools, techniques, and best practices, with plenty of time for questions and feedback.

We’ll meet at the Indian School Trailhead (aka Embudo Trailhead) at 8:30 AM for a short hike to our work site, where we’ll sit for about an hour of “classroom” time to go over some basics before diving into our hands-on learning.

Please bring your own work gloves and eye protection (sunglasses), plus lunch, snacks and plenty of water in a day pack. Please also bring sturdy boots, a hat, and sunblock (rain gear if rain is predicted). A notebook and pen could also prove useful! It could be chilly in the morning during the classroom portion, so extra layers are recommended. We’ll stop for lunch at around noon, and after work we’ll begin hiking out at around 2:00.

We’ll be joined by one or two ABQ Open Space personnel who will be available to help demonstrate and answer questions throughout the trail construction portion of the day.

Please register below by Wednesday, Oct 6th. If you are bringing a friend, she will need to register as well. Hope you can join us!

Difficulty: 2 Pulaskis

Cost: Free!

For more information: If this is your first NMVFO project, you can find more information about difficulty ratings and what to expect at our Volunteer FAQ’s, or email the project leader.
