Trigo Canyon (Mountainair RD) – CANCELED

April 25, 2020 @ 8:00 AM - April 26, 2020 @ 2:00 PM

Description: In his book 60 Hikes within 60 Miles, David Ryan says that “Trigo Canyon is a seldom visited gem on the west face of the Manzanos.” Join us for a weekend (or part of a weekend) to maintain the lower 3 miles of trail, including brushing, deadfall removal, and some tread work. We’ll meet at the old JFK Campground. The campground has been closed for many years, but tent, car, and small RV camping will be available to project volunteers on Friday and Saturday nights. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, including long pants, long sleeves, sturdy boots (no sandals or tennis/athletic shoes) and work gloves. Bring sunscreen, a hat, rain protection, day pack, water, snacks, and lunch. Tools will be provided by NMVFO. As a reminder, pets are not allowed on NMVFO projects. Detailed directions to the work site will be provided prior to the project. Meals will be provided Saturday morning and evening, and Sunday morning. Please sign up below by April 21st.

Difficulty: 2 Pulaskis

For more information:  If this is your first NMVFO project, you can find more information about difficulty ratings and what to expect at https://nmvfo.org/volunteer/volunteer-faq, or email the project leader.
