Description: Join us as we return to the scenic and geologically rich San Lorenzo Canyon near Socorro to put finishing touches on the South Rim Trail we started in November of 2021. We will construct trail as the route descends from the rim back down to the main channel, allowing for a loop hike alongside the road back to the kiosk. As time allows, we may work on signage and a side trail alternate.

Directions: Do not enter “San Lorenzo Canyon” into Google Maps. The driving route inside the canyon changes every year for high water events, which confuses Google Maps. Go to the signed turn-off for San Lorenzo Canyon at 34.226730, -106.954976, Google Maps link. Turn right as the sign indicates, across the cattle guard, and the route soon joins the sandy canyon drainage. Follow the tire tracks an additional 3.1 miles to the kiosk and parking area on the left.

Difficulty:

Group Size: 15
