Rio Puerco Trail (Coyote RD, SFNF)

RESULTS: 11 NMVFO Volunteers were able to clear approximately 135 trees (deadfall) from 3.6 miles of trail.
Description: The Rio Puerco Trail #385 is located on the east side of the San Pedro Parks wilderness, and after two miles forms a 6 mile loop with the Peñas Negras Trail #32 and Perchas Trail #418. Join us as we clear downed trees and lop corridor along these trails, and define tread as needed. We will car-camp at Resumidero Campground and shuttle a couple of miles on FR 93 Resumidero to the trailhead. NMVFO will provide breakfast and dinner on Friday, breakfast and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday morning. Volunteers should bring packed lunches to eat along the trail on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers are encouraged to camp with us on Thursday night for an easier start on Friday morning. Be ready to hike up to 6 miles each day.
We also welcome volunteers that can only join us Saturday and Sunday, but let us know 3 weeks in advance.
Meeting Location: Resumidero Campground, 36.109496. -106-753533. From Albuquerque head on I25 to Bernalillo, take 550 past Cuba to La Jara, Travel on SH 96 to FR 103, the on FR 103 for 9 miles to FR 93. Another 2 miles on FR93 will lead visitors to the campground. USFS link.

• Long pants
• Long-sleeved shirts
• Sturdy boots, as required by the Forest Service.
• Eye protection (sunglasses)
• Day pack with water, snacks, and lunch
NMVFO/Forest Service will provide tools and hard hats.
