Perchas Trail Backpack

Description: Escape the summer heat – camp at 10,000 feet! Join us as we clear trail in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness. Dead trees are still falling across the trails in the Penas Blancas fire scar, and need to be logged out. We’ll come in from the east side, hike about 3.5 miles to a beautiful camp in Vega Redondo, and work the upper Perchas trail.
If you have never backpacked, or its been a long time, this could be a good trip for you. The trail is a gentle climb; the 10,000 foot elevation is the factor that could make it hard. We’ll also log out a short section of trail 93G on the way in.
Please bring: Volunteers will need to bring their own camping gear and food. They will also need long pants, long-sleeve shirts, safety glasses (sunglasses), and gloves. Hard hats will be provided, and will need to be carried up. All tools will be provided, and need to be carried in.
Meet At: Resumidero Campground, 9:30AM Friday. Car pooling can be arranged if desired.
Reminder: Pets are not allowed on NMVFO projects.
