Organ Mountains Aguirre Springs Recreation Area POSTPONED (Las Cruces BLM)

DUE TO A SMALL NUMBER OF SIGNUPS, WE WILL POSTPONE THIS PROJECT UNTIL THE FALL.
Description: Join us for a car-camping weekend at Aguire Springs Group Site and work at the Organ Mountains Aguirre Springs Recreation site for a second year! The group campsite is reserved for NMVFO at Organ Mountains Aguirre Springs Recreation. The site has a tables, fire rings, and a toilet.
Work will take place on Saturday starting with a safety talk at 8:00 am and finishing around 5:00 pm. We will work Sunday, starting around 8:30 and work until 12:00.
We will be working on the Baylor Canyon West and Pine Tree Trail sections, continuing the trail restoration and maintenance efforts from last year. Our tasks will include clearing brush, repairing tread, and addressing social trails, along with removing old signage and debris.
Food: Our cooking team will provide a light meal or snacks on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and supper on Saturday night. Volunteers should bring their own snacks and lunch materials, as well as beverages of their choice and a cooler.
Tools/Equipment/Clothing: NMVFO will provide all tools needed and hard hats, which are required on this project. Participants should wear sturdy boots (no sandals or light shoes), long pants, long-sleeved shirts, hat, eye protection (sunglasses are fine), gloves, daypack with plenty of room for water, sunblock, and bring gear for rain.
Weather wise, wind is a concern this time of year. So, hoping it isn’t too bad but always want to keep that in mind for what kind of gear people bring out to camp in.
