Guadalupe Escarpment Trail

June 10, 2016 - June 12, 2016

The Lonesome Ridge Trail, which was originally scheduled for this time, is going to have to stay lonely a little longer.  VFO will have the unique opportunity to be one of the first to work on the new Guadalupe Escarpment Trail in this spectacular part of New Mexico with its jagged ridges and breath taking canyons.  The 71 mile trail is an interagency effort linking the Guadalupe National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park and the Guadalupe District of the Forest Service.  We’ll be improving tread on the Cave Canyon and Munson sections in the National Forest and work full days on Friday and Saturday, June 10 & 11 and half a day on Sunday, June 12.
We’ll camp near the work site and VFO will be supplying dinner on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  If you can’t make it for the full 2 1/2 days, not a problem.  Join us for Saturday and Sunday.  And for those with some extra time, there’s a lot to explore in the National Forest or either of the National Parks.
