La Ventana Arch (Rio Puerco BLM)

RESULTS: 14 volunteers worked with the BLM on National Public Lands Day to clean up the area around the parking area for La Ventana Arch and installed 2 park benches.

Description: Join NMVFO and the Rio Puerco BLM for a project on National Public Lands Day. This project will be at La Ventana Arch, on the south east side of El Malpais National Monument.  You will go west of Albuquerque, about 70 miles to exit 89 for highway 117, just before getting to Grants.  From there drive south on 117E for 18 miles.  We will work from 11 to 3.  The project will be installing benches and signs, closing user trails, and cutting weeds in the parking area.  The BLM will have drinks and snacks, but you should bring your own lunch.

Wear work gloves and eye protection (sunglasses okay) while working.  All tools will be provided.

Pets are not allowed on NMVFO projects.
