Embudito Trail (Sandia RD)
November 5, 2022 @ 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Contact Leader(s): Jenny Blackmore, j.blackmore@nmvfo.org; Katie Ziegweid, k.ziegweid@nmvfo.org with any questions.
RESULTS: On November 5th, a chilly Saturday morning, fourteen NMVFO volunteers met for a lopping and brushwork project along the Embudito Trail in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. The temps climbed quickly, making for pleasant work conditions, and by the end of the workday nearly 2 miles of trail had been cleared of encroaching prickly pear, cholla, bear grass, scrub oak and other vegetation.
Description: Come join us as we do some brushwork and lopping along the first couple miles of the Embudito Trail in the Sandia foothills in Albuquerque. We’ll meet at 8:30 AM at the Embudito parking area (map) for instructions and a safety talk, then we’ll “leapfrog” each other up the trail as we work. Forest Service PPE requirements: hard hat (provided), eye protection, long pants, long sleeves (yes, even if it’s hot), work gloves and sturdy shoes or boots. Please also bring a daypack with lunch, snacks, sunblock, clothing layers and plenty of water.
NMVFO will provide loppers and other tools, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Please leave pets at home. Hope to see you there!
