Datil Well Campground

August 12, 2017 @ 8:00 AM - August 13, 2017 @ 12:00 PM

Enjoy a weekend in the Historic Datil Mountains and visit the Very Large Array. Datil Well was one of 15 former water wells spaced every ten miles along the historic Magdalena Livestock Driveway that once stretched 120 miles from Springerville, AZ to Magdalena, NM. We will camp Friday and Saturday nights at the Group Shelter site which has fresh well water, vault toilets, shady tent sites and plenty of room for parking to include RVs. There is a motel in nearby Datil for those who do not wish to camp.
Datil is 61 miles west of Socorro on US Hwy 60. The campground is ¼ mile south of Datil on Hwy 12. The green NMVFO signs will be deployed early Friday afternoon at both entrances to the campground area. Work will begin Saturday, August 12th at 8:00 am and Sunday, August 13th at the same start time, but we’ll finish up around noon
