Coronado Historic Site – Invasive Tree Removal

RESULTS: Twenty-one NMVFO and Friends of Coronado volunteers removed over 400 invasive trees (juniper, tamarisk, Russian olive) from the bosque at the Coronda Historic Site in Bernalillo. They used loppers and hand saws to cut the trees at ground level and piled the cut trees. They also sprayed the remaining trunks of the tamarisk and Russian olive trees with an approved herbicide to prevent sprouting.
Description: Join NMVFO as we remove invasive trees (juniper, tamarisk, Russian olive) from the bosque at the Coronda Historic Site in Bernalillo. We will be using loppers and hand saws to cut the trees at ground level and piling the cut trees. We will also spray the remaining trunks of the tamarisk and Russian olive trees with an approved herbicide.All tools will be provided.
We suggest that you wear boots, long pants, long sleeves, work gloves, hats, and eye protection (sunglasses okay) while working. Please bring lunch, snacks, sunblock, and rain gear (if rain is expected), and water.
Reminder: Pets are not allowed on NMVFO projects.
