Carlito Springs (Bernalillo County Open Space)
November 10, 2021 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Contact Leader(s): Jenny Blackmore, j.blackmore@nmvfo.org with any questions.
RESULTS: Twenty NMVFO volunteers and three Bernalillo County Open Space personnel completed nearly 200 feet of tread improvements along .6 mile of trail, brushed back foliage along 3/4 mile, and built 10 drainage structures and a retaining wall at Carlito Springs Open Space.
Description: Come join us on a Wednesday project at BernCo’s Carlito Springs Open Space. The property is currently closed to the public until Spring 2022, so this will be a fun opportunity to have the trail to ourselves. We’ll meet there at 9:00 AM (exact location TBD) and hike in with tools ~3/4 mile to our work site(s). We’ll stop for lunch around noon and begin our hike out around 2:00 PM. Tasks for the day will include tread repair and building a crib wall. Required: work gloves, eye protection (sunglasses), boots and long pants. Please bring a long-sleeved shirt as well, and a day pack with lunch, snacks, sunblock and water (and rain gear if applicable).
A reminder that pets are not allowed on NMVFO projects.
