Projects Map

Here are our completed projects and scouting reports for the current year.

To view the map, click on the “Open in CalTopo” button at the upper left corner of the map window.

NMVFO organizes around 35 projects per year. Many of these projects consist of trail-maintenance efforts focused on public lands. We “scout” public-land trails too, and evaluate their maintenance needs. We also conduct restoration projects.  These focus on wildlife, invasive-removal and watershed health. Finally, we conduct “clean-up” projects on public lands, including fishing areas, campgrounds, roadways, and the like.

To better inform the public, land managers, partner organizations and our own membership about our work, we have combined all or our completed projects and scouting reports for the current year onto a single CalTopo map, visible in the window. We update this map as new projects are completed.

In the map window, completed NMVFO projects can be seen as solid GREEN objects, while dotted ORANGE lines indicate trails that have been scouted and evaluated. To zoom into an area of interest, you can use your mouse wheel or the “+” and ”-” tabs at the upper left in the window. After clicking on the “Open in CalTopo” button at the top left of the embedded map, you can also click on any project listed on the left side of the map and the map will zoom to that project. A small text window will appear noting the date worked and what was done. Finally, while scrolling around the map, you can click on any green or yellow object and a brief description will pop up.

Map characteristics can be altered in many ways by clicking the various options on the right side of the map.
