NMVFO plans 20+ volunteer work projects each year. Click here for a printable overview of the 2024 project season, and check back often for additional information posted as it becomes available. Guadalupe Escarpment Trail

We will have the opportunity to be the first to work on the new Guadalupe Escarpment Trail, an interagency effort linking the Guadalupe and Carlsbad Caverns National Parks and Guadalupe Forest Service District

Agua Piedra

Agua Piedra Campground Forest Service Rd 708, Vadito, NM, United States

Trail maintenance on several trails in the Carson National Forest. We will camp at Agua Piedra Campground east of Peñasco.

Quemado Lake

Come celebrate the 4th in the wilderness of the Apache National Forest about 20 miles south of Quemado. Limit of 12 volunteers.

Bluewater Lake State Park

Build and repair trail tread, install timber shoring, create primitive stream crossings, build rolling dips to control water erosion

Sugarite State Park

Camp two nights. Install water bars, clean up and fill washed out areas. Rework trail bed, divert run-off, cut down hazard trees.

Hermit’s Peak

Drive up for 1 day or all 5 and camp at the USFS El Porvenir campground near Las Vegas, NM. Help us maintain the Hermit's Peak trail named for a 19th century religious recluse who lived in a cave near the peak.

Capulin Trail-CANCELLED

This project has been cancelled by the agency due to unforeseen circumstances.

After camping (optional) Friday night at Graduation Flats, we'll carpool to the trailhead and finish restoring the trail to Bandelier in scenic Capulin Canyon.

Via Posada Open Space Trail Network

Enjoy a one-day project within Albuquerque city limits. Help maintain trails and reroute badly eroded trails in this 40-acre open space.
