SUMMARY:Manzanos West Side (Cibola NF)
DESCRIPTION:RESULTS: On Saturday\, ten volunteers worked on lopping and cleared 34 trees from most of the Comanche Trail for 5.5 miles (one-way). On Sunday\, twelve volunteers completed a variety of tasks on Trigo Trail for the first 3 miles that included the removal of 15 trees\, lopping\, some stream work\, and graffiti removal. The project\, based at the old JFK Campground in the Mountainair Ranger District of Cibola NF\, was supported by two skillful cooks and perfect weather. Our volunteer team was more than up to the task of the good amount of hiking that was necessary to “get to the work” and completed the first-ever NMVFO graffiti removal with exceptional results.\n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	Show More\n\n\n\nPHOTO ALBUM LINK \n\nDescription: From the Trigo Trailhead (old JFK Campground\, John F Kennedy Campground – Google Maps) we will clear deadfall on Comanche Trail for 4.5 miles. Also\, we will work on Trigo Trail for the first 3 miles including tree removal\, lopping and some graffiti removal. The road to the project is quite rough and requires a high clearance vehicle. We will provide detailed directions to all participants as Google Map is not reliable in the area. We will have access to the old campground (behind a locked gate). The trip from Albuquerque is almost 2 hours\, so camping Friday and Saturday nights will be available\, but you could work any portion of the weekend. Food will be provided for Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning. Bring your own food and water for the trail. \nPets are not allowed on NMVFO projects \nDifficulty:   due to distance \nGroup size: 17 (including 2 cooks) \nDeadline: Sign up by May 1\, 2023 \nFor more information: If this is your first NMVFO project\, you can find more information about difficulty ratings and what to expect at Volunteer FAQ\, or email the project leader. \nPlease read our Volunteer Guidelines before signing up for this project.\nOn the signup form please leave the "Number of Volunteers" at 1. If you would like to sign up additional volunteers please submit multiple signups.
