SUMMARY:San Lorenzo Canyon (BLM Socorro)
DESCRIPTION:RESULTS: Fourteen volunteers and one BLM agency rep built 0.55 miles of new trail in San Lorenzo Canyon\, constructed 6 cairns and 9 drainage features\, installed 4 trail markers\, naturalized 4 trail sections\, and lopped a short section of trail.\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	Show More\n\n\n\nPHOTO ALBUM LINK \n\nDescription: Join us as we return to the scenic and geologically rich San Lorenzo Canyon near Socorro to put finishing touches on the South Rim Trail we started in November of 2021. We will construct trail as the route descends from the rim back down to the main channel\, allowing for a loop hike alongside the road back to the kiosk. As time allows\, we may work on signage and a side trail alternate. \nDirections: Do not enter “San Lorenzo Canyon” into Google Maps. The driving route inside the canyon changes every year for high water events\, which confuses Google Maps. Go to the signed turn-off for San Lorenzo Canyon at 34.226730\, -106.954976\, Google Maps link. Turn right as the sign indicates\, across the cattle guard\, and the route soon joins the sandy canyon drainage. Follow the tire tracks an additional 3.1 miles to the kiosk and parking area on the left. \nDifficulty: \nGroup Size: 15 \nSign up below by Wednesday\, March 23. One person per signup. \nFor more information: If this is your first NMVFO project\, you can find more information about difficulty ratings and what to expect at Volunteer FAQ\, or email the project leader. \nPlease read our Volunteer Guidelines before signing up for this project.
