SUMMARY:Manzano Crest Lopping (Mountainair RD)
DESCRIPTION:RESULTS: After one night of camping on the 4th of July Campground\, one group of four volunteers cleared more than 15 trees from the 2.1-mile Bosque Trail\, while a second group of eleven volunteers hiked 2 miles to the Manzano Crest to remove overgrowth from 1.1 mile of the Manzano Crest Trail. We enjoyed great camaraderie\, beautiful weather\, and a delicious dinner and breakfast prepared by David Broudy and Michelle Tan. For two volunteers\, it was their very first NMVFO project.\n \n\n\n	\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n	 \n	\n	Show More\n\n\n\nPHOTO ALBUM LINK \n\nDescription:  We will lop overgrowth and remove downfall on the Manzano Crest Trail between Trail Canyon Trail and Bosque Peak Trail\, picking up where we left off during our September 2024 project. The work will not be difficult but will require a 3+ mile hike with a 1\,500 feet elevation gain to the work site (plus return).  For this reason\, we will rate it as difficult.  We will camp at or near the trailhead on Friday and work all day Saturday.  It is about 90 minutes from Albuquerque to the trailhead.  You are welcome to come on Saturday morning also.  We will start at 8:00 am and be back at the trailhead at 5:00. \nWe will provide food on Friday evening and Saturday morning\, but you need to bring your food for the workday.   There will be a limit of 15 people (since this is a wilderness area).  Participants should wear sturdy boots or work shoes (no sandals)\, long pants\, hat\, eye protection\, gloves\, and bring gear for rain.  Pets are not allowed on projects. \nDifficulty:  \nGroup Size: Up to 15. \nPlease read our Volunteer Guidelines before signing up for this project.\nOn the signup form please leave the "Number of Volunteers" at 1.
