SUMMARY:Guadalupe Ruins
DESCRIPTION:RESULTS: Twelve volunteers worked on 0.25 miles of trail and built stone steps up to the ruin. \nFlickr API error: Invalid API Key (Key has invalid format)\nPHOTO ALBUM LINK \n\nApril 13 @ 7:00 am – 4:30 pm \nContact Project Leader: Mike Myers at michael_myers@ q.com\, 505-620-4525 to sign up. \nDifficulty: 2 Pulaskis \nPlease consider joining us on Saturday\, April 13th for a one day project at Guadalupe Ruin. The work site is approximately a 2-hour drive from Albuquerque\, and we need to be at the site no later than 9 am. More information about the area can be found at https://www.blm.gov/visit/guadalupe-ruin. Guadalupe Ruin\, the easternmost Chacoan Outlier\, is a single-story masonry pueblo situated on an isolated sandstone mesa rising nearly 200 feet above the valley floor. The top of the mesa is isolated by sheer walls on all sides\, with access to the top restricted to a narrow trail. We’ll be installing water control structures and doing some trail reconstruction. The existing trail is approximately 1/8-1/4 mile long from the parking area to the ruins. \nThere is the possibility of arriving on Friday evening to camp the day before the project. However\, it will be PRIMITIVE camping on Mesa Chivato. \nYou must contact the project leader\, Mike Myers for essential information about preparing for and planning transportation. We will meet at the Home Depot in Rio Rancho to carpool in high clearance vehicles. Park in the far north side of the parking lot near US 550.

SUMMARY:Morphy Lake State Park
DESCRIPTION:RESULTS: Seventeen volunteers built 0.23 miles of new trail around the lake. Rock-work happened. \nFlickr API error: Invalid API Key (Key has invalid format)\nPHOTO ALBUM LINK \n\nJoin us for a weekend of trail building at Morphy Lake State Park! Morphy Lake (pronounced “Murphy”) is a beautiful little reservoir which sits at 8000’ in the Sangre de Christo Mountains near the Pecos Wilderness. The park is closed for dam reconstruction\, but the NMVFO will have access during the project\, beginning Friday evening. We will camp on the north side of the lake\, at the farthest campsite. Keep your eyes out for our (short) green NMVFO signs as you approach the park. Our trail cook Cindy will provide us with breakfast on Saturday morning\, dinner Saturday evening\, and breakfast on Sunday. \nWe will begin work at 8:00am on Saturday and finish by noon on Sunday. The plan is to pick up where we left off building trail last year\, eventually encircling the lake with sustainable\, new trail. All tools will be provided. Please bring sturdy footwear\, gloves\, long pants\, sunglasses\, trail lunch\, and plenty of water. For camping you will need your own tent\, sleeping pad and sleeping bag (campers or RVs less than 18’ can also be accommodated\, but without hookups). Bring rain gear and warm clothing; we can expect chilly temps at night. Also please bring your own dishes and eating utensils! \nSign-ups close on Tuesday\, April 23rd. To sign up\, or with any questions\, please contact Gena Robertson. Hope to see you there!
