Contact Leader(s): Chris Fritzsche, 505-504-3768, email@example.com to sign up.
Heron Lake State Park is set among the tall pines of northern New Mexico. Heron Lake plays an important part in a system of water courses, infrastructure and reservoirs that support commerce, agriculture, drinking water and ecosystems throughout the state. Some years ago, the NMVFO helped construct the Rio Chama Trail which connects the Heron and El Vado State Parks. It’s time for some trail re-routing, drainage improvements and a general tune-up.
Camping will be available Friday, May 19th through noon Sunday, May 21st. Potable water and bathrooms are located nearby. RV connections are available at other park campsites. NMVFO will provide breakfast Saturday and Sunday, dinner Saturday night. Carpooling is encouraged. Registration for this project is required for planning purposes; please sign up for this project no later than 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16th so that we can match provisions to participants. Unfortunately, we will not be able to support restricted diets.
Heron Lake State Park is located approximately 9 miles west of Tierra Amarilla and can be reached via New Mexico State Highway 95.
